Nothing compares with the learning thrill of cool new books
and teaching resources!

While
primary school students (above) tap their creativity
using Hands-donated art materials, their teachers are
busy creating new manipulatives and literacy centers
using Hands-donated teaching resources. Thank you, Hands
contributors!

Ready for some new good news? The Hands
shipment of over 10,000 books and 32 boxes of teaching resources
made possible by you, generous Hands contributors, has arrived
safely in the Caribbean. The books and resources have been distributed
to the 16 schools of the Hands Caribbean
Literacy and School Support (CLASS) program.
Students are thrilled they have art materials to spark
their creativity, phonics and spelling materials to improve
their language skills, and lots of great books to read to expand
their imagination and knowledge of the world. Teachers are ecstatic
they are using the Hands-donated teaching resources to
create new manipulatives, literacy centers, and lesson plans
to lift their students to a higher level. Meanwhile, the Hands
crew is in danger of sustaining broken ribs from group hugs
by (very) excited school children! Watching the kids' faces
as they open your donated boxes of wonderful,
wonderful books to read everything from Dr. Seuss to
Goosebumps to the range of outstanding
childrens' books

The lady who makes it happen! Lions Club President (Roseau,

the Hands shipment successfully through Customs.

published by Scholastic tells us
that the gift of books is better than celebrating Thanksgiving
and a birthday on the same day!
Hands owes a huge thanks to the Roseau, Dominica Lions Club
and president Louisiana Dubuique for bringing the books and
resources shipment through Customs yet again. And we salute
our partners, Tropical
Shipping,
Boaters

you, our generous Hands contributors, who make it all possible.
